Blasphemny, Daeva, Stigma Diabolicum, Deadnate and Oskaal Announced for Inferno 2027

Inferno Metal Festival 2027 continues to take shape, and this time we are heading both back to the roots and into the newer underground. From Canadian war metal and pioneers of the Norwegian black metal scene to American black thrash, Danish progressive metal and fresh Norwegian death metal. We give you Blasphemy, Daeva, Stigma Diabolicum, Deadnate and Oskaal.

BLASPHEMY

Blasphemy have a history stretching all the way back to 1984, when they were formed under the name Antichrist by Nocturnal Grave Desecrator and Black Winds and 3 Black Hearts of Damnation and Impurity. In 1987, they changed their name to Blasphemy, and two years later released the demo «Blood upon the Altar», with the debut album «Fallen Angel of Doom....» following soon after. On that album, they blended death metal and black metal into what is often referred to as war metal, and Blasphemy are widely regarded as the godfathers of the genre. In 1993, they followed it up with the equally brutal «Gods of War». After a lengthy break, the band returned in 1999 and have since mainly focused on playing live, while also releasing live albums, demos and compilations. In more than 40 years, Blasphemy have only played in Norway once, at Inferno Metal Festival in 2014. So it is about time we had some Blasphemy on Norwegian soil again.

DAEVA

Daeva are an American black thrash metal band who released their first EP in 2017. In 2022, the longawaited debut album «Through Sheer Will and Black Magic» finally arrived. Since then, the band have played only a handful of shows. Daeva can be described as a hybrid of classic bands such as Destruction, Sarcófago and our own Aura Noir. In other words, it is going to be hard and ugly. The members are also involved in a number of bands across different genres, including doom metal band Crypt Sermon, epic heavy metal band Eternal Champion and grindcore band Unrest. We are looking forward to having Daeva with us at Inferno for the very first time.

STIGMA DIABOLICUM

Stigma Diabolicum are a Norwegian black metal band who started in the late 1980s. The band released the demos «Luna de Nocturnus» in 1989 and «Lacus de Luna» in 1990, laying a solid foundation for what was to come later. The band were originally formed by Marius Vold and Snorre Ruch during the summer of 1989, and in 1990 they were joined by Bård «Faust» Eithun on drums and Harald Eilertsen on bass. Shortly afterwards, the name was changed to Thorns. In 1991, Thorns released -the now legendary demo «Grymyrk», followed by «Trøndertun» in 1992. The demos circulated throughout the underground and became an important influence on the Norwegian black metal sound, including bands such as Mayhem and Satyricon. Stigma Diabolicum are now back with original members Marius Vold and Harald Eilertsen, joined by other well-known musicians, and will play a select number of shows. One of them will be at Inferno, where they will perform material from the early Stigma Diabolicum and Thorns demos.

DEADNATE

Since 2013, Aarhus band Deadnate have been going strong with their blend of progressive metal, hardcore groove, atmospheric riffs and technical finesse. Their 2022 debut album «The North Sea» received strong international reviews, including praise from Metal Hammer. Earlier this year, the band followed it up with «Mosaic», where they continue to combine the progressive and technical with a heavy and aggressive sound. We are looking forward to bringing Deadnate to Inferno Metal Festival – and to the band’s maiden show on Norwegian soil.

OSKAAL

Oskaal are a new Norwegian death metal band from Drammen. The band released their debut EP «Drenched in Sin» earlier this year, showing a young band with original ideas, technical skill and a strong sense of melody. More recently, they also released the live album «(A)live», proving that they know how to deliver this material on stage as well. Catch this new Norwegian band when they play Inferno for the very first time.
