Five new artists are confirmed for Inferno Metal Festival 2027. This time around, the announcement spans everything from British extreme metal history and Finnish grindcore to melodic black metal and brand-new Norwegian names. We give you Carcass, Rotten Sound, Sworn, Nedgravd and Myrvandrer

CARCASS

Carcass are a pioneering British death metal band formed in 1986. The band have helped redefine genres more than once and have been true pioneers within extreme metal. It started with the debut album «Reek of Putrefaction» in 1988, which became a defining record for both grindcore and goregrind. Over the following albums, the band moved further in the direction of death metal, and with «Heartwork» in 1993, Carcass became one of the leading bands within melodic death metal. Carcass were also among the very first pure death metal bands to sign with a major label when they signed with Columbia Records, allowing them to reach far beyond the underground. When Carcass return to Inferno Metal Festival in 2027, it will be exactly ten years since their last appearance – and we are looking forward to having the legends back with us.

ROTTEN SOUND

One of the most uncompromising grindcore bands around comes from Finland and goes by the name Rotten Sound. The band were formed in Vaasa in 1993 and have been delivering raw and intense music for more than 30 years without caring about trends – or the ageing process slowly creeping up on them. Just check out last year’s EP «Mass Extinction» – eight tracks in under ten minutes. In other words, things are going to get brutal, dirty and sweaty when Rotten Sound finally return to Norway after fourteen years.

SWORN

Sworn are a melodic black metal band from Bergen who have been active for more than twenty years. During that time, the band have released one demo, one EP and five albums. Their latest, «Null Crowned the Infinite», was released recently and has received strong reviews from both fans and the press. The band have their own way of blending classic black metal with melancholic and atmospheric melodies. With a new album in their luggage, Sworn are ready for Inferno Metal Festival for the very first time.

NEDGRAVD

Nedgravd are a new Norwegian death metal band who released their debut album «Ascension» earlier this year. With members ranging in age from 17 to 21, this is an unusually young and talented band. Their sound is necro as hell. Quite simply, their music reeks of death and decay. There is a lot happening in the Norwegian underground right now, and Nedgravd are definitely one of the more exciting new names in death metal.

MYRVANDRER

Myrvandrer come from the deep forests of Hedmark and play ambient post-black metal. The band have so far existed as a solo project and released the debut album «Lenge leve livet» in 2021. The follow-up «Salt» arrived in 2022 and brought more sorrowful chaos, crushing guitar riffs and heavy beauty. In 2027, Myrvandrer take the journey further, assemble a full band and step onto the stage. It all begins at Inferno Metal Festival 2027.
