First Artists Announced for 2027

We are proud to announce the first ten artists for Inferno Metal Festival 2027. All of them have been chosen with the utmost care. These first ten names range from established black metal veterans to newer and more genre-crossing bands from the international underground.

We give you Kampfar, Mgła, Trelldom, Ellende, Kraanium, Hellripper, Ruïm, Kvaen, Jordsjuk and Bianca. More artists will be announced in the months to come.

Welcome to Inferno 2027!

KAMPFAR

Kampfar are a Norwegian black metal band who have been going strong since 1994. So far, the band have released no fewer than nine albums, all of them maintaining a consistently high standard. This has only seen the band grow bigger and better over the years. 2027 is set to be a major year for Kampfar, with plenty of plans ahead. Their show at Inferno Metal Festival will be the band’s only concert in Norway, and we are looking forward to having them back at Rockefeller.

MGŁA

Mgła are a Polish black metal band formed in 2000. Since then, the band have released four studio albums, several EPs and a live album. Mgła originally started as a studio project, but after the release of their second album, «With Hearts Toward None», in 2012, the band began performing live. In 2014, Mgła played Inferno Metal Festival for the first time, returning for another show with us in 2019. Now the band are ready to return to Inferno eight years later, and everything points towards this being one of the highlights of the festival.

TRELLDOM

Trelldom were formed by Gaahl, known from Gaahls Wyrd, Gorgoroth and God Seed, all the way back in 1992. Up until 2007, the band released three black metal albums that are today regarded as classics of the Norwegian black metal underground. After that, the band were put on hold while Gaahl focused on other projects. In 2024, Trelldom returned with the album «…by the shadows…», which saw the band moving in a new musical direction.

Earlier this year, they also released «…by the word…», showing a band that continues to develop along its own unique path. Trelldom have never performed in Oslo before, making this a rare opportunity to see the band live.

ELLENDE

Ellende are a post-black metal band started as a one-man project by L.G. in 2011. Since then, the band have released six albums, with the latest, «Zerfall», arriving earlier this year. Ellende have received praise throughout their career and have developed their own melancholic style within black metal. They are not afraid to make use of instruments that are unusual within the genre and continue to push its boundaries. Despite this, the band have never performed in Norway before, and we are delighted to welcome Ellende to Inferno Metal Festival for the very first time.

KRAANIUM

Norway may not have many slam death metal bands, but we do have Kraanium, who were formed all the way back in 2001. Today, the band have an international line-up consisting of members and former members of bands such as Amputate, Loss of Charity, Kataplexia and many more. Kraanium have toured all over the world, both with their own shows and at well-known metal festivals, but they rarely perform in Norway. In fact, we have to go all the way back to 2009 for the last time Kraanium played Inferno Metal Festival. Now they are finally back, and there is a very good chance they will deliver the most brutal show of next year’s festival.

HELLRIPPER

Hellripper come from Scotland and are the brainchild of James McBain. Since 2014, the band have been delivering hellraising black speed metal of the highest order. Music that makes you thirsty and practically guarantees both headbanging and a mosh pit. The band released their fourth album this year, «Coronach», which has received excellent reviews from the press. Hellripper have never played Inferno Metal Festival before, so we are looking forward to welcoming them for their first visit.

RUÏM

Ruïm were started by Blasphemer, best known from Mayhem, Aura Noir and Vltimas, in 2020. So far, the band have released one album, «Black Royal Spiritism - I. O Sino da Igreja», which came out in 2023. The album has been praised for its originality while still containing recognisable elements of the music Blasphemer created during his time in Mayhem. Ruïm have so far played only a handful of concerts at various festivals. This will be a unique opportunity to catch the band at Inferno Metal Festival for the first time.

KVAEN

Kvaen were started by Sweden’s Jacob Björnfot in 2019 and have since released three albums. The releases have often featured well-known guest musicians, including Jeff Loomis of Nevermore, Mike Wead of King Diamond and Vreth of Finntroll. Kvaen’s music is firmly rooted in black metal, but the band are not afraid to throw in some thrash metal riffs or viking metal when the occasion calls for it.

Kvaen have never played Inferno Metal Festival before, and we are looking forward to a killer show!

JORDSJUK

Jordsjuk are a relatively new band, but their line-up consists of seasoned veterans of the Norwegian black metal scene from bands such as Koldbrann, Trollfest, Nattverd, Nordjevel, Grotesque Hysterectomy and many more. The band took the metal underground by storm when they released «Naglet til livet» in 2025. The album also earned them a well-deserved Spellemann Award for Metal Album of the Year. Jordsjuk are certainly not resting on their laurels and are pushing ahead at full force. We can already say with confidence that the band will give it one hundred per cent when they play Inferno Metal Festival for the first time.

BIANCA

Bianca are a new melodic black metal band from Italy. So far, the band have only released their self-titled debut album from 2025. The album received strong reviews and was praised for the band’s blend of atmospheric black metal, doom and goth. Particular attention should be paid to the powerful female vocals, which move from the most vulnerable and tender passages to fierce screams that you can feel in your bones. This will be the band’s first-ever show in Norway.
